Brother - Trenton Dominero, age 35. Disappeared from his home and became a notorious mass murderer in Ustalav for reasons that have yet to be discovered.
Appearance
Tauras is a muscular mam with long, curly black hair, brown eyes, and a thin mustache. He has a worn face and gray hairs amongst his black ones that make him look a little older than he actually is. There are scars on his face that clearly show that he's been in battle before, but no so many to give the impression that he's fought in any major wars. He can usually be found wearing medium or heavy armor. If he's not wearing armor, then he's most likely going to be wearing something practical and not very stylish, like farmer's garments.
Personality
Tauras takes a very militant approach to being a paladin. He follows his code thoroughly while also maintaining some measure of a soldier's gruffness. He is polite, but stern. Chivalrous and serious. Humble, but humbling. All in all, he's an honorable but stiff person.
Tauras himself will admit that his ambassadorial skills pale in comparison to other paladins, and he is much better put to use on a battlefield when there is no option left but to fight. Despite this, he always seeks a non-violent solution to a problem when he can, and only resorts to violence as a last resort.
Character Traits
- Is charismatic and respectful despite his stiff personality.
- Follows the ways of a paladin faithfully and without hesitation.
- Is an honorable and just man.
- Is willing to go the extra mile to help complete strangers and even enemies under the right circumstances.
Character Flaws
- While he always tries to end disputes peacefully and only fights as a last resort, he is still better at fighting than he is at negotiating.
- Is more familiar with the land of Mendev than he is with Ustalav.
- Has trouble getting along with chaotic characters.
- His stiff personality can be irritating to some people.
HISTORY:
You might not think that a paladin born and raised in the province of Mendev would have any reason to join a bunch of adventurers in a clean-sweep of the greenbelt, but you'd be wrong.
Tauras grew up in the city of Nerosyan; the capital of Mendev, and a city built for the sole purpose of holding off the demons that flood out of the Worldwound to the west. It was a stressful childhood, living so close to something so terrible. But like the rest of his brothers and sisters, he learned to live with it. He had to. Cowardice wasn't tolerated within the Dominero family.
Tauras and every one of his siblings was expected to grow up someday and join the front to fight the hellspawn spat out by the Worldwound. Well, all except for one. Tauras' brother Trenton, being the eldest sibling, was raised so that he would live on to ensure a new generation of Domineros would succeed them.
Tauras couldn't say that he wasn't jealous, but at the very least he understood the necessity of his role.
Tauras took comfort in his faith in Iomedae, and was a studious servant of the deity even at a young age. The doctrine of the Iomedeans helped him understand why soldiers like the ones produced by his family were necessary to fend off the evils of the west. The virtues of honor and valor were branded into his mind.
To ensure that he was strong, his parents made sure that he chopped wood every day for hours and hours on end. As a result, Tauras developed a decent build. When he would join the soldiers in the west to fight the good fight, he would be ready.
Fate, however, seemed to have other plans for him.
Tauras couldn't pinpoint where it really began. The call to be a paladin was something that came to him slowly. Sometimes, as he worked, he could swear that he heard a voice. Other times, he could feel something pulling him to destinations he had no intention of traveling to. His decision to follow his destiny as a paladin of Iomedae didn't spawn from any grand revelation. It was an admission. A fate he simply grew to accept as time passed.
His parents did not object to Tauras' fate. Rather, they celebrated it. They took pride that their son was chosen to act as a champion of the virtues upheld by Iomedae.
And so Tauras became a paladin. He followed the will of Iomedae without hesitation, and answered her summons wherever they took him.
Oddly enough, never was he summoned to his brothers and sisters to the west. Never was he summoned to combat the beasts of the Worldwound.
One day, Tauras recieved news that his brother Trenton had gone missing. Fearing for the future of his family and that abandoning one's family so callously was a dishonorable act, Tauras pursued his brother on and off throughout the course of several years.
Eventually, his travels eventually took him to Ustalav, a land much much like his own in many ways. People there lived in fear of terrors that could take them at any moment. Foul entities that couldn't be fathomed by the mortal mind. And it was there, too, that he could feel a sort of evil. Not in any particular direction like in Nerosyan, where the evil in the west was always present. No, here, the evil was spread out across the entire countryside. They were hidden in dark places. Underneath bridges and the basements of abandoned homes.
It was in this land that he found his brother. He had followed a traces of grizzly murders and sick rituals that eventually led Tauras to an abandoned shack where Trenton was hiding. He claimed that he'd seen great things. Terrible, and wondrous things.
Trenton was crazed, if not outright possessed. The last words that he ever Tauras ever heard him speak to him were unforgettable.
"The shadows are horrifyingly beautiful, Tauras. I know what draws men from their homes and into the forest at night, knowing the dangers. No glory awaits me at home. There is no guarantee that the evils there will not swallow me whole when I least suspect it. But here? I can embrace the terrors. We need not fear what lurks in the dark. Not if we become it....Won't you join me?"
Trenton assaulted Tauras, and managed to injure him severely. Tauras wasn't sure how, but his brother had managed to pierce a hole in his neck, and create a huge gash in his chest. Tauras in turn, retaliated, and attempted to apprehend him. He had his brother on his knees. It seemed that he'd been beaten. When Tauras reached forth to grab Trenton brother by the collar of his ragged shirt, Trenton knocked him into a wall, and escaped the house through a window. Tauras attempted to pursue him, but was unable to pick up his trail again. He was gone.
Tauras reported the news to his parents back in Nerosyan. They were shocked and terrified by the news. Another of Tauras' brothers, Takurd, returned from the west to ensure that someone in the family would still live to carry on their traditions within the city.
Since then, Tauras has simply done as his goddess asked him. He followed her calls, though not once was he called to the west to aid his siblings in the war. Recently, however, he has felt a call to return to Ustalav, where he lost his brother.
Tauras already knew what awaited him there. It was time to confront the evils that maddened his brother and turned him into a psychotic killer.
Like a good soldier, he marched forth, banishing all fear and doubt from himself. It was time to restore honor to this honorless land.

Journal Entry 1:
Mass murderers, malevolent spirits, and suspicious characters as far as the eye can see. I see these things as evidence that Iomedae returned me to these lands for a reason.
It find it strange how I have, until now, not bothered to write even once since I arrived here. Perhaps I've simply been too busy watching over Kendra and investigating the remarkably large number of mysteries that I have stumbled upon. I find putting my thoughts on parchment to be the equivalent of meditation in a way. It helps me organize my thoughts, and relieves me of some of my frustration. Considering all that's happened, perhaps I should write more. A good soldier needs to have a clear mind in order to effectively fulfill his duties.
We're soon leaving to visit Harrowstone again. That place which once, and may even still, contain so many madmen. Madmen like my brother.
The more we learn about Harrowstone and the killers that died when it was set ablaze, the more comparisons I make between them and Trenton. Like the Splatterman, Trenton performed his own rituals before making a kill. They are also alike in that there is a chance that both of them may still be alive.
...My brother...he couldn't be connected to this at all, could he?
No. While there are certainly similarities between him and the notorious killers of Harrowstone, it would be arrogant to assume that he, and by association, I play any large role in the horrible incidents that have occurred. Still, I do know that Iomedae called me here for a purpose. Perhaps in solving these mysteries and eliminating whatever enemy Iomedae has set before me, I will achieve some understanding of why Trenton turned out the way he did.
I should stop writing for now. I need to ready myself for the next venture to Harrowstone. A soldier needs to properly equip himself before he enters the fray, lest he have nothing but his own fists for weapons when he encounters his first opponent.
